4 Tips For Renting A Moving Truck

Moving trucks are one of those pieces of equipment that is essential in making a move happen. After all, how would you otherwise move all of your possessions from one place to another without one? Without a truck, it could take many many trips to get it all done. This is why renting a moving truck is ideal. Here are four tips for doing this and making it work within your budget:

  1. Estimate the Right Size: There are two problems if you end up renting the wrong size moving truck. One being that you rent a size that is too large, which you end up paying more than what you needed to. The other being that you got a truck that is too small and either need to make more than one trip or to rent another truck so you are paying twice as much. The best thing to do is take a mental note of each room. It helps to go based off the large furniture, and then estimate the number of boxes each room will probably have. From there, you can get an estimate for a truck that is going to be the right size. Keep in mind that bigger is better since you will have more space for extra things you might have forgotten, but this isn't the case if you are tight on your budget.
  2. Book Early: You save much more money by booking for your move early. This way, you aren't scrambling to book something last-minute. Chances are, you won't find the right size truck you need. Plus, rates are going to be higher if you need to book right away. Besides, this also gives you more time to compare prices between different rental truck companies near you.
  3. Check the Truck Before Driving Off: You don't want to be blamed for any damages that were there before you drove off with the truck, so be sure that you check for damages before you take off. This is the best way to be sure that you are not charged for extra damages that were not your fault.
  4. Get Insured: Too often people skip this part, believing it to be fine. The problem with this is that you never really know if something bad will happen. Since you are carrying so many of your personal belongings on the truck, it's even more important to get insurance. This way, should something happen, you will not find yourself in a huge financial bind during an already financially binding time. Check with the truck rental services company to see what type of insurance they offer.

With these four tips in mind, you can be sure that you make the most of your truck rental financially and more.
